Baz Luhrmann Workshops The Great Gatsby in New York by Mike Fleming, Deadline New York, 10/18/2010... Leonardo DiCaprio read the role of Gatsby, Tobey Maguire read Nick Carraway, and Rebecca Hall read the role of Daisy. Fleming notes that the reading went well and this doesn't mean the casting is a done deal. Baz Luhrmann enjoyed the boat tour in 2009 as part of his research for the film.

Although Land's End, rumored to be the inspiration for the Buchanan residence in The Great Gatsby is slated for demolition to make way for new construction this year, it does not impact the boat tour in any way.
